We have officially started Adam on a "schedule." This includes feeding him at specific times each day, putting him down for naps in his crib and following a consistent bedtime routine. Some of the experts (depends which ones you follow - you can find support for ANY opinion) say that babies thrive on order and routine, and this schedule/routine will have Adam sleeping through the night and napping better sooner. And better sleep means happier baby, so we're all for it! Also, with me returning to work soon, we need more order in our home. So far, it has been a little tough. The night time has been fine. Adam goes to sleep with very little crying, however naps are another story. He is oftentimes not thrilled with being put down for a nap, but I have to remember that Mommy knows when Adam needs sleep, even if Adam does not! Last night was great, though. Adam ate at 9:00, went to sleep about 9:30, woke at 4:15 to eat, and is now still asleep (yes, it is 7:50 am). So, knock on wood, it seems like he should drop the night time feeding soon (we hope!). We also noticed that he has been a lot less cranky in the evenings since starting this routine. We moved Adam to his room at the start of this, and he has taken it like a champ! Maybe it's because his room is decorated so nicely....
In other news, we spent last week in South Florida, meeting and visiting many relatives. We drove down and back through the night to get longer stretches out of Adam, and also so that we didn't switch his days and nights inadvertedly. He was so good in the car...we barely heard a peep out of him! Of course, everyone who met him thought he was a cutie. It helps that he is generally very well-behaved outside of the house. How do they learn that so early?! He also spent his first night without Mommy when he slept over at Grandma Milstein's house. Everyone was very helpful in caring for Adam when we were there, and Brad and I were able to get some rest (and some time alone).
Next up is finding a babysitter for Adam. I had grand plans to do that this week (interviewing a few people), but I never got around to it. Hopefully, I'll set up some appointments this weekend, so that we can try a few people out. We want to have someone for weekends, but also someone we can use as backup if Adam is sick and can't go to daycare. I will probably be back to traveling when I go back to work, so if Brad can't stay home, we'll need someone to. It stinks that we don't have any family close by, but that's life. Thankfully, we do have a couple of good friends, but we can't always ask them to babysit.
That's all for now. By the way, Adam is still sleeping soundly (8:00)!
